Temi di ricerca
My research activity focuses on processes affecting crystalline basements at different depths during single or multiple orogenic cycles. To this aim I combine field mapping with petrological and microstructural analysis (using SEM, EPMA, and micro-Raman) and phase equilibrium thermodynamic modelling (using the software THERMOCALC). In particular, since the PhD thesis, I investigate the cause–effect relationships between fluid-consuming/-releasing reactions and deformation in ductile shear zones, through the analysis of variations in intensive and extensive thermodynamic variables and the fluid-present or -deficient conditions under which syn-kinematic mineral assemblages formed during ductile shearing. In addition, using the same approach, I investigate (i) metasomatic processes in skarn, (ii) fluid- and melt-rock interactions in mafic and felsic granulites and ultramafic rocks, (iii) partial melting, melt extraction and reaction evolution in granulites.
