 Prova d'esame (esercizi e teoria)

(56 x (voto Calculus 1) + 36 x (voto Calculus 2))/92.

The examination is divided into two parts: Calculus 1 (computerized) and Calculus 2 (written) described as follows.

Calculus 1 (computerized).

The registration to exams via Esse3 and within one week before the examination date is mandatory and indispensable. Registrations received via e-mail will not be accepted and unregistered students will not be admitted to the examinations. In addition, for a better organization of Computer Laboratories,  a student who is registered and does not attend the exam without first notifying the teachers will not be eligible to take the exam at the following scheduled date.

In order to take the exam, the student has to present an identification document (preferably the University card) and to know the personal University login and password, which must be typed on the computer to start the exam.

The exam consists in a quiz and a test to be held in a computer room. There is no possibility to withdraw after the beginning of the examination.

During the examination, it is not allowed to use any electronic device and it is not allowed to read books or notes. During the test (and not during the quiz) it is possible to use the calculator on the computer.

It is strictly forbidden to keep mobile phones, tablets and similar devices nearby during the examination (regardless they are turned off, in a pocket,...), otherwise the student will be excluded from the exam. The presence of one of these devices, even if turned off, will result in immediate expulsion from the classroom and the cancellation of the test.

Basic Skills Quiz

This quiz consists in 5 multiple choice questions, with the aim to verify the basic skills of the student.
The student has 20 minutes to answer correctly to 4 questions at least. The result is: passed or not passed and it is immediately notified to the student at the end of the quiz. Students non passing the quiz cannot take the test.

Test (Exercises and Theory)

This test concerns the  topics discussed during lectures and exercise hours; it consists in solving exercises and answering questions of theoretical or logic-deductive nature.
The test is evaluated by a 30-point scale and the test is passed with minimal mark 18/30.

Both the quiz and the test must be passed during the same examination day:  those who do not pass the test will have to repeat also the the quiz.

Information for students of academic years before 2017-18

Students of academic years before 2017-18 can choose whether taking the exams with the previous rules and program or with the present rules and program until the last exam of Autumn 2018. They have to choose at the registration to the exam: it is not possible to change the choice the day of the examination.

Starting from the first exam session of the academic year 2018-2019, all students must take the exam with the program and the modalities of the current academic year.

Calculus 2 (written part).
This part deals with Calculus 2 arguments. This is a traditional written test where some exercises will be assigned to test the acquired skills. Only the use of a calculator is allowed (no notes, books, formulary, etc…). Also in this part it is strictly forbidden to keep mobile phones, tablets and similar devices nearby during the examination (regardless they are turned off, in a pocket,...), otherwise the student will be excluded from the exam.
Concerning only Calculus 2, the students will only be able to take the same exam once per session. The test is considered taken only once handed over. The test is evaluated by a 30-point scale and the test is passed with minimal mark 18/30.

Information for foreign students

Even though Mathematics I is taught in Italian, for the current academic year foreign students who attend the course could take the exam in English, asking for this during the registration phase of the written part. The exam will consist of a unique written test that will verify competence in both Calculus 1 and Calculus 2. These students will not have to register for the computer-based test.

The exam is passed only if both the marks of Calculus 1 and Calculus 2 tests are at least 18/30.

The final mark will be the weighted arithmetic mean of the two marks above computed according to the following formula and rounded to the nearest integer:

(56 x (Calculus 1 mark) + 36 x (Calculus 2 mark))/92.

If the result is at least 31, the final mark will be 30 e lode.
